The 2015 deadline for achieving the United Nations Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) is fast approaching. In this context, the pace of international discussions on global development goals and related issues after 2015 is accelerating. Discussions are focusing on comprehensive and integrated sustainable development goals consistent with the focus and effort of the MDGs, and responding to new and emerging challenges to contribute to the setting of the post-2015 development agenda.
The aim of this symposium is to contribute to considerations of the post-2015 agenda from both development and environment perspectives, as well as consideration of integrated goals for achieving sustainable development, in order to improve the global environment and human well-being.
Please note that the symposium will be conducted in Japanese (no English interpretation will be provided).
This event is being organized by the Tokyo Institute of Technology (S-11 of the Environment Research and Technology Development Fund, Ministry of the Environment of Japan) and co-organized by the United Nations University Institute of Advanced Studies; Beyond MDGs Japan; Graduate School of Education, The University of Tokyo; Graduate School of Environmental Studies, Tohoku University; and Institute for Global Environmental Strategies.
