“Integrating Global and Local Sustainable Development Goals in Asian Cities: Partnerships to Generate Environmental Co-benefits in Urban Areas”
This event will discuss how we can identify and generate large urban co-benefits, i.e., positive impacts for integrating climate change with local sustainable development goals in cities. These co-benefits can help us understand how we make social and technological transitions that can promote more sustainable urban initiatives that cut across sectors and regions and lead to radical impacts on the way our societies use environmental resources and distribute its benefits. The discussions will be based on empirical research conducted to understand the policies behind co-benefits in cities in Brazil, China, India, Indonesia and Japan.
This event includes the opening lecture of the UNU-IAS 2013 Master of Science degree programme and the launch of a special volume of the Journal of Cleaner Production (on “Climate Co-Benefits in Urban Asia”).
This event is free and open to the public, but advance registration is required.
