UNU-MERIT and the Masstricht Graduate School of Governance are now accepting applications for the Migration Management Diploma Programme (MMDP). This three-month course, which starts on 1 April 2014, is designed for practitioners and civil servants working in the field of migration and/or asylum.
Sponsored by the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs, 10 scholarships per year are available to government officials from 40 developing countries who have least three years of experience in the field.
The course is also open to practitioners and students interested in migration issues.
The three-month programme includes three different courses:
Classes will be taught by world-renowned scholars and practitioners. A platform for networking also will be provided through field-trips across Europe (including a tour of Dutch ministries in The Hague, EU institutions in Brussels, the UN and other intergovernmental agencies in Geneva, and Schiphol airport).
The application deadline is the 17 January 2014.
The MMDP aims to develop not only theoretical knowledge but also practical skills, such as articulation and presentation; how to write briefs, policy notes and memoranda; how to formulate evidence-based policy; and how to work in a group and deal with conflicting interests. Also on the agenda are seminars devoted to health, education and institutions, as well as scenario-building sessions focusing on country case studies.
Overall, the MMDP will equip participants with a range of new skills and insights, as well as practical and interactive experiences of how to apply the latest knowledge in the field of migration management
