UNU Press is currently recruiting highly-motivated self-starters to work as interns and volunteers

What kind of work are interns and volunteers involved in?

Interns and volunteers support all aspects of UNU Press’s business. This includes helping with the manuscript assessment process, editing and checking publications and promotional materials, carrying out market research, updating databases and websites, supporting general office tasks, helping to plan and assisting with promotional events, and helping to promote and sell books.

What kind of people does UNU Press look for?

UNU Press is keen to hear from potential interns and volunteers who are capable, self-motivated and able to manage their own workload. Native or a good command of the English language is considered a must, as is a professional and mature attitude to work. Interest in working in a multi-cultural office is an advantage. We are happy to hear from students and recent graduates.

What kind of career-related experience can an intern or volunteer gain at UNU Press?

UNU Press internships and volunteer opportunities are particularly suited to those looking to build careers in publishing, editing, project management, academic writing, and marketing and sales in an international organization. Interns and volunteers gain an insight into the operation of an English-language academic publishing house as well as the workings of a UN organization – a unique experience!

    What are the working conditions?

Interns are asked to commit to work full time (9.30am to 5.30pm) for a minimum of four days per week for a period of three months. Volunteers normally work for the equivalent of at least two full days per week for a period of at least two months. Interns and volunteers are unpaid but receive a small commutation allowance.
Interns and volunteers are provided with a workstation with access to relevant computer programmes and the internet, as well as access to the UNU facilities including the library and gym. Interns and volunteers are encouraged to attend UNU events and general staff meetings.
